High Tech Computer Corporation (TSEC: 2498), known by its acronym HTC, is the Taiwan-based manufacturer of Microsoft Windows CE portable devices. It was founded on May 15th 1997 and was strictly an outsourcing company, an Original Design Manufacturer (ODM); today, HTC provides its self-branded products to its existing Qtek channels, as well as supporting its operator-branded products and its OEM partners. HTC also owns Dopod as a subsidiary company.

T-Mobile announced in Munich Germany the new Vario and Compact series based on the HTC Raphael and Diamond.

Surprisingly we haven't heard anything official by HTC from the HTC Raphael (Vario IV)while T-Mobile again steals the show and is the first to present official pictures of this device. On the Cebit in Hannover March this year they also where the first that presnted the HTC Diamond (Compact IV)

T-Mobile MDA Compact IV (Diamond)

Actually, the MDA Compact IV is the T-Mobile version of the HTC Touch Diamond with a revamped design - a bit larger, more rounded edges, and most importantly - a lot lighter at 98 g as compared to 110 g of the HTC Touch Diamond. The proprietary 3D TouchFLO menu is also changed - now it turns up in white and magenta colors. The system RAM however has shrunk to 128MB as opposed to 192MB in the HTC Touch Diamond.

Vertu Ascent

Vertu Ascent is one of the most popular cell phone in this category. Its dimensions are 44 x 108 x 22 mm and weighs 173g. It is relatively a heavy handset. The Vertu Ascent comes with Grayscale graphic display with the resolution of 116 x 148 pixels, which is not very high resolution but normal for small mobile phones. For volume control there is a separate button to the side of the phone indicating '+' and '-'. Just below the screen there is a good numeric keypad which has beautiful and spacious keys making the phone easier to dial. You can also find a simple two-way navigation buttons centered below the display to control the menus.

Despite a basic phone the Vertu Ascent supports Tri-band GSM 900/GSM 1800/GSM 1900 MHz for network connectivity, which is generally not available with normal phone. It also supports Blue tooth and GPRS that is again a great feature for this mobile phone. It offers Polyphonic ring tones, which you can easily set as per your choice through simple to use menus. Other features of the phone are Vibration alert, SMS, MMS, Email, Hands free, T9, and Calendar, Calculator, Voice dial and spacious phonebook where up to 1000 phone numbers can be stored.

Vertu Ascent is powered by a Li-Ion 780 mAh standard battery that giving you 150 hours standby time and up to 4 hours of talks time.

Overall, the Vertu Ascent is a great basic phone, we would recommend it to any body that are looking for easy to operate phone and just for basic call features. The phone is available in various colors; Yellow, Blue, Red, Black, Brown and Tan.

Vertu Diamond has a standard design for this class of handsets. It is 42 x 122 x 15 mm in size and weighs 173g. It is relatively a heavy handset. Vertu Diamond is powered by 780 Li-Ion mAh standard batteries, which has capacity to work up to 150 hours in standby mode and talk time up to 4 hours. The Vertu Diamond comes with TFT 4096 colors display with the resolution of 116 x 148 pixels, which is not very high resolution but normal for small mobile phone. You can also find a numerical keypad just below the display that has appropriate spaced keys allowing user to dial a number and send text messages to your beloved comfortably.

For network connectivity Vertu Diamond supports Tri-band GSM 900/GSM 1800/GSM 1900 MHz, but for data transfer it does not support any connectivity, no GPRS, no Blue tooth and no infrared. Its just a basic phone, so please don't expect advance features such as camera, MP3 and other multimedia stuff. But, unlike other phones of this category it has Polyphonic ring tones, to alert you if you are unable to listen ring tones it has vibration mode. Other features of the phone are SMS, MMS, Email, Hands free, T9, Calendar, Calculator, Voice memo and spacious phonebook that allowing user to store up to 1000 telephone numbers of their family and friends.

Despite a heavy in weight the Vertu Diamond ensures a slim and sleek, which is ergonomically comfortable. The phone is available in various colors; Yellow, Blue, Red, Black, Brown and Tan.

Vertu Signature is a strong phone and ideal for businessmen who travel lot. But the phone is very expensive.
